At D&D Outfitters we hunt big antelope! Three of the four units we hunt have produced bucks over 90 inches Boone and Crockett. One of these bucks ties for the state record. Clients of ours have taken several bucks that qualify for entry into the record books. Antelope are one of the most fascinating animals in the world. They are the fastest running animal on our continent and second only to the ostrich and the cheetah in top speed. Antelope are the only horned animals on earth that shed their horn sheaths every year. Antelope are also equipped with extraordinary eyesight. Not only do they see through nearly 8X eyes, but they also have 360 degree peripheral vision.
Hunting these trophies will usually provide quite a challenging stalk. Antelope inhabit very open country, many times without a tree for miles and miles. Antelope bucks will generally have a herd of does and each one has those same great eyes.   While hunting with D&D, most clients will see numerous mature bucks each day. Most of the hunting consists of driving in the pick-up and “looking over” many bucks in search of your special trophy. Your guides will know where and how to find the biggest bucks. They will also be very competent at the art of judging trophy quality. Antelope are considered by many to be one of the most difficult of all animals to judge. The differences between a good buck and a great buck are very minimal and antelope body and head size vary greatly. Without us countless hunters have walked up to bucks and discovered ground shrinkage. Conversely, many record book heads can look quite average on the hoof. These difficulties are solved by going with D&D. We know the antelope that live here and have judged and scored many heads. At D&D Outfitters we spend more time scouting than any one else and we have the experience to recognize what we are seeing.
